Do Not Call List

The CRTC Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules apply to the Telemarketing Rules, the National Do Not Call List Rules and the Automatic Dialing and Announcing Device Rules. Telemarketing Rules require all telemarketers to:
1. identify who they are and, upon request, provide consumers with a fax or telephone number where they can speak to someone about the telemarketing call,
2. display the telephone number that they are calling from or that the consumer can call to reach them
3. only make calls and send faxes between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on weekends
4. maintain their own do not call lists, and
5. register with the National Do Not Call List.

For Canadians that do not want to be bothered by telemarketers, they can register their phone number on the Do Not Call List which introduces new rules for telemarketers.
